I’m lucky and I’m blessed. I still have my mother and she is still a vibrant and active woman at 92.
We, all my siblings, spouses and a couple of grandchildren, celebrated tonight by going out to dinner and then coming back to my place for cake. A couple more grandchildren joined us for cake.
We finished up the evening with Dark and Stormy’s made with ginger beer and rum. The Dead Snail ginger beer was made by my brother’s two sons. Ginger is a thing in our family. One of my sisters brought some ginger maple butter back from Quebec for my mom. We try it in every form but the best is covered in milk chocolate.
Mom is still a going concern. After dinner one night last week the two of us played Crib and she beat me three games out of three. My son calls her a card shark. She beats him too. She also took me to the Symphony on Thursday afternoon. She has a busier social life than I do.
Some people worry that they’re turning into their mom. I would be very happy to be just like my mom.
Now here it is your moment of mosaic. Birds on the floor of the basilica di San Vitale in Ravenna, Italy.
Thank you for a lovely posting! I agree wholeheartedly.
I’m so pleased I met your Mom last Christmas. Definitely a young 92 ! Love the photo of Mom, you and sisters. – the other Adele
