What did I do tonight instead of writing a thoughtful and well-written blog post?
Well I made mac and cheese, and banana bread from scratch. Mmmm, comfort food. I didn’t get to the grocery store, and the fridge was low on supplies. Luckily the freezer was helpful and I had frozen bacon and found 3 overripe bananas I’d stuck in there a while back.
The bread crumbs and bacon sprinkled on top made the mac and cheese one of the best I’d ever made, even if I do say so myself. While I take credit for the making of the dish, the addition of bacon idea came from my son. I resisted at first but then gave in to the genius of it.
Of course, if I go to all that trouble and the oven is on, well a dessert must be made as well. The banana bread was warm and moist. Good supper.
Tomorrow’s topic: How I went to the gym to burn off comfort food calories instead of writing a decent blog post.
Now here it is your moment of mosaic. Images of food from a mosaic (Roman 2nd century AD) in the Vatican museums.
I should make something else than tweak my blog and write posts then. Tomorrow I am cooking. You inspired me.
Macaroni and cheese is an excellent reason to not blog. My excuse for Monday was I was too tired from the weekend and had lots of laundry to do.
Spargil? from Helvetia, no doubt.
It doesn’t look like white spargil, though.
